Kidney Specialist Hospital

In 1978, GKNM Hospital had the distinction of being the first and the best kidney healthcare provider to offer haemodialysis facility in the district.

The maintenance dialysis program for patients with chronic renal disease was started in the early eighties. It currently caters to an average of 100 out of patients on Dialysis and offers specialised hybrid dialysis for the inpatients in our kidney hospital.

The Nephrology Department in our multispeciality hospital in Coimbatore has a staff strength of 30 members including 2 Nephrologists, Physician Assistants, Dialysis Nurses, Dialysis Technicians, Dialysis assistants, and a Transplant co-ordinator. We have the best nephrologists, dialysis unit, with the latest technology, that provides all types of dialysis.

Utmost care is given to quality with well-trained and compassionate staff to provide the best kidney treatment. A state-of-the-art water purification plant along with regular water tests ensures a continuous supply of ultra-pure water for dialysis. Our kidney specialists are trained to diagnose kidney health complications and suggest the best treatment that helps in preventing the further deterioration of the affected kidney and its disorders.

  • We have a considerable experience in creating vascular accesses in patients requiring dialystic therapy. This includes temporary access procedures like jugular and femoral lines. Permanent access procedures include permcaths and arterio-venous fistulas. We have also performed basilic transpositions
  • Body composition monitoring is done for all dialysis requiring patient to provide effective dialysis and to assess their nutritional status.
  • Education given on diet, dialysis and hygienic care to Patient & Caregiver during dialysis waiting period.
Nephrology Treatment

Procedures

  • Temporary dialysis catheter insertion with and without real-time guidance for dialysis Initiation Tunnelled Cuffed Dialysis Catheter (Permeate) insertion into the jugular veins (both right and left) and the femoral veins with 'C' arm guidance in the Operation Theatre. Renal Biopsies under real-time guidance for both native kidneys and graft kidneys in both adults and children. We regularly do renal biopsies even in children who are as young as six months old with an excellent support from the Pediatric Anaesthesia team and Department of Radiology.
