Dr. R. Shanmuga Sundaram

• He has completed his training in Cardiology in 2008. Currently working as Chief Consultant – Heart failure clinic and Echocardiography at GKNM Hospital. He is incharge of Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic as well.  He is an active member of Heart transplantation team at GKNM Hospital. He is actively participating in the departmental academic activities. He has conducted regular academic activities in the area of Heart failure, Echocardiography and Pulmonary hypertension for training physicians, Cardiology trainees and Cardiologists. 

• Completed MBBS from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in 2000, MD (Internal Medicine) from Madras Medical College in 2005 and DM Cardiology from Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology in 2008.  Worked as Assistant professor in the Department of Cardiology, at Christian Medical College Vellore in 2009-2010, subsequently as an Associate Professor and Professor in the Department of Cardiology at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and research, Coimbatore from 2010 to 2020. Presently working as a Chief Consultant, Heart failure and Echocardiography at G Kuppusamy Memorial Hospital from May 2020. Underwent training in Advanced Heart failure and Transplantation at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK in 2018. 

•  Awarded “Edmond Lorede Prize” in the examination conducted at Institute of Internal Medicine, Madras Medical College, Chennai. (May 2005)
• Awarded distinction during MBBS career in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Opthalmology and Oto Rhino Laryngology. (July 1995 to Jan 2001)
•  Presented multiple Research papers in many national conferences
